​The Michigan Zoning Enabling Act provides that zoning be based on a Plan designed to promote public health, safety & general welfare.  A Master Plan, sometimes called a Comprehensive Plan, is a vehicle by which the community determines the character it wants and makes plans for achieving or maintaining that character.  The Master Plan is a blueprint for the community’s future; with its primary purpose is to serve as a basis for zoning and to guide decisions related to development and public capital improvements.  The Master Plan was adopted by the Planning Commission April 26, 2018.
